One Piece watch order
One Piece is a single TV series, so the order is simple: start at episode 1 and keep going. The anime reached episode 1,180 in September 2026 and is on break until 2027. The movies are optional, and five of them have short TV tie-in episodes that tell you roughly when to watch them.
Most of the work is choosing what to skip. Our One Piece filler list cuts 102 filler episodes and keeps 1,078. This page covers the films, specials and the newer adaptations around the series.
The series, in order
Watch episodes 1-1,180 in order. Streaming services split them into seasons, which differ by service and region. Our Crunchyroll season table shows where each season starts and which filler sits inside it.
Want a shorter route? Follow the One Piece episodes to keep: about 431 hours instead of 472. The arc sheet shows the same route arc by arc, if you'd rather skip whole side stories than track single episodes.
Since 2026, new episodes air in a block of two cours (about 26 episodes) each year rather than every week all year. The Elbaph arc began in April 2026, and the 2026 run ended with episode 1,180. Toei Animation has said new episodes return in 2027, without a date yet.
Where the One Piece movies fit
Every One Piece film tells a side story, so none is required for the TV plot. Five have anime-only TV episodes made to promote them. Those episodes are filler in our list, but they mark a safe point to watch the film: by then you've met everyone it assumes you know.
| Film | TV tie-in | Watch the film after |
|---|---|---|
| One Piece Film: Strong World (2009) | Little East Blue | Episode 429 |
| One Piece Film: Z (2012) | Z's Ambition | Episode 578 |
| One Piece Film: Gold (2016) | Silver Mine | Episode 750 |
| One Piece: Stampede (2019) | Cidre Guild | Episode 896 |
| One Piece Film: Red (2022) | Uta's Past | Episode 1030 |
If you're skipping filler, you can skip the tie-in episodes too and still watch the film at that point. The one tie-in we'd keep is Uta's Past, which sets up Film: Red. Strong World also has a short 2010 promotional special, Episode 0, which animates the manga's Chapter 0 and isn't part of the TV numbering.
The other films are side adventures without tie-ins. Watch them whenever you like after the crew in them has formed.
For all 15 films in release order, including the early side adventures and the two retellings, see One Piece movies in order.
TV specials and recaps
One Piece has many TV specials, from retellings of early arcs to crossover episodes. They aren't in the numbered episodes, so you can leave them out. A few numbered episodes are anime-only crossovers or recaps; our list counts them as filler (for example 492, 542 and 590).
The remakes are separate
- Netflix live action: a separate adaptation. Its second season came out in March 2026.
- The One Piece: a new anime remake from Wit Studio for Netflix, starting from the beginning of the manga. Netflix has announced February 2027 for its first season, without a day.
Neither replaces or continues the TV anime, and their episode numbers have nothing to do with ours.
Questions
Do I have to watch the movies?
No. If you want to try one, we'd start with Film: Red or Strong World. Both work best after their tie-in episodes.
Where is the anime up to?
Episode 1,180, "Elbaph in Despair - Diabolical Covenant, Domi Reversi", aired on Sep 27, 2026. We'll add new episodes after they air and we've checked them.
Can I start at a later arc?
We wouldn't. The story builds on earlier arcs for hundreds of episodes. Cutting filler is a better way to save time than skipping canon.
Sources and scope
Episode numbers, titles and labels come from our One Piece sources. Placing each film after its tie-in is our recommendation.
