One Piece movies in order

There are 15 One Piece movies, released from 2000 to 2022. Watch them in release order, slotted in as you reach the point in the TV series they were made alongside. None is needed for the TV story. If you only want a few, start with Strong World and Film: Red.

This page covers the theatrical films. For the TV series itself, the TV specials and the remakes, see our One Piece watch order. For the episodes you can skip, use the One Piece filler list.

Years are Japanese release years. Every film tells a side story or retells one, so the "when to watch" column is about not meeting characters early, not about missing plot.

Which One Piece movies are worth watching?

The five most recent films (Strong World, Z, Gold, Stampede and Red) are the usual place to start. Each came with anime-only TV tie-in episodes that set it up. Our list marks those tie-ins as filler, but they're a handy marker: once you've reached them, you've met everyone the film needs.

Of those, Film: Red has the closest link to the series. Its tie-in, Uta's Past, is one of our One Piece filler picks.

The early films (2000 to 2006) are shorter side adventures made while the series was in its first years. They're fun if you like the early crew, but they're the easiest to skip.

The two retellings

Episode of Alabasta (2007) condenses the Arabasta arc, episodes 92-130, into one film. Episode of Chopper Plus (2008) retells Drum Island, episodes 78-91, with changes. If you've watched those arcs, both are optional; if you're short on time, they don't replace the TV arcs either, because the series keeps building on them.

Questions

Are the One Piece movies canon?

No film is part of the TV story, and the series never needs them. Treat them all as side stories.

Is there a new One Piece movie coming?

A new film has been reported for 2027, but we list only released films. We'll add it here once it's out.

Where do the TV specials fit?

They're separate from the films. Our watch order explains them.
