Black Clover watch order
Watch episodes 1-170, then the movie Sword of the Wizard King if you want it, then season 2. Season 2 began on October 3, 2026 and picks up the Spade Kingdom story where episode 170 left it. We count its first episode as 171.

Where does Sword of the Wizard King go?
It's an original story supervised by the manga's creator, Yuki Tabata, not an adaptation of a manga arc, so nothing in the TV series depends on it. Guides disagree on where it sits: some place it before the end of the first run, others between arcs or after episode 170.
We'd watch it after episode 170. By then you know the cast it relies on, and it doesn't interrupt season 2's continuation of the Spade Kingdom story. You can also save it for the end.
How season 2 is numbered
Most apps call the new episodes season 2, episode 1 onward. We keep counting, so season 2 episode 1 is our 171 and season 2 episode 5 is our 175. Match by title if your app's numbers look different from ours.
New episodes air weekly in Japan, and Crunchyroll streams them outside Asia. The next one, our episode 176, was scheduled for November 7, 2026 when we checked. We add each episode after it airs and we've checked what it adapts. A total episode count for season 2 hadn't been officially announced.
Black Clover watch order without filler
Follow the Black Clover episodes to keep: 140 of 175. The big cut is the six-month training and Devil Banishers stretch, episodes 130-157, which our sources class as anime-original. Many lists call it anime canon instead, so their filler counts are lower. Our arc sheet explains the difference.
Season 2 has been manga material so far: episodes 171-175 adapt chapters 270 to 290.
Questions
Is Black Clover season 2 a new anime?
No. It's the same series, continuing from episode 170 after a gap of more than five years, with no reboot.
Do I need the movie for season 2?
No. It's a side story.
Can I skip the training arc?
For the manga plot, yes. Episode 158 picks the story back up. If you'd like a taste, our filler picks suggest the first few training episodes.
